Due to a recent spurt of people adding me, let me make this clear... THIS IS A FRIENDS ONLY JOURNAL. INTRODUCE YOURSELF AND I MIGHT ADD YOU IF I AM ADDING PEOPLE AT THE TIME. I DO NOT ADD PEOPLE I DO NOT KNOW OR WHO WERE NOT INTRODUCED TO ME BY SOMEONE I DO KNOW.

This journal has gone to friends only due to concerns over coworkers visiting and various other reasons I don't care to share. Comment in the open post and I will consider adding you. If you're not added, I probably haven't gotten around to it or don't really know you. Don't whine bitch or moan about this, it will only get on my bad side. It is just a LJ folks, deal.

This LJ is a Drama-Free zone. Undue drama gets dealt with in a not nice manner. I like being nice. Let's just play nice, umkay.

I discuss topics that are occasionally controversial and might just offend your sensibilities. If this is a problem, you probably ought not be here.

Additionally, I don't spell well at all - part of it is dyslexia, part of it is laziness. So, deal with it or not, this isn't a world of professional essays and I don't care to spell check every entry in my personal journal. I have a low tolerance for dreadful grammar and spelling, but I'm not going to be freakish over a few badly spelled words. Also, I end up using British spelling a great deal for a variety of reasons - don't correct me on a spelling that is correct, though it may not be American.

"So this is how liberty dies – with thunderous applause." - Amidala - Yea... sigh.

"Don't worry about the world coming to an end today ... It's already tomorrow in Australia." - Charles Schulz

"Happiness in intelligent people is the rarest thing I know." - Ernest Hemingway

"Much unhappiness has come into this world because of things left unsaid." - Fyodor Dostoevsky

"The sane world will always be vulnerable to madmen, because we cannot go where they go to conceive such things" -Spider-Man, The Amazing Spider-Man: Vol.2, No. 36

"We have just enough religion to make us hate, but not enough to make us love one another - Jonathan Swift

"Pretty much all the honest truth-telling there is in the world is done by children." - Oliver Wendell Holmes

"Question with boldness even the existence of a God, because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason than that of blindfolded fear."
Thomas Jefferson

"I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who had endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use."
Galileo Galilei

"The further the spiritual evolution of mankind advances, the more certain it seems to me that the path to genuine religiosity does not lie through the fear of life, and the fear of death, and blind faith, but through striving after rational knowledge."
Albert Einstein

"Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so."
Douglas Adams

On December 1, 2003 cancer stole from the world a brilliant mind, a wonderful daughter, and my dearest friend. She fought valiantly, but it took her body, though I know it never touched her soul. I miss her dearly and I always will.

Breast cancer isn't something that effects strangers - it effects you, your daughters, your sisters, your mothers, and yourself. When they say that time heals all wounds, it isn't really true. What is true is that you just get used to the pain... it's always there, always in your mind, but you come to terms with the fact that it's not going away. Cancer is cruel, no matter what age... but when it steals from us too early, too soon, and too harshly then its cruelness is magnified.

The Susan B. Komen Foundation is working to put a stop to this, to increase early detection, and to try to put some hope back into us in the face of this terrible illness. Help, if you can... even a thought or prayer is a step in the right direction.

I have a extensive Amazon Wish List, cause I like stuff (I use this list to keep track of what I want, so I can buy it when it gets cheap!) and I'm terrible about remembering what to tell people when they ask what to get me for holidays ;-) Hopefully that will help! I love books and I'm really wanting to expand our kid-friendly DVD collection - primarily with stuff from when I was a kid!

Please remember that I am 110% OK with used books! I prefer them, actually. I am perfectly happy with a used book that has clean text. They are cheaper and you can get more books with the same $ if you buy used. Used are fine!

I also have a nice little ThinkGeek.com Wish list since I do also have a love affair with geekiness. I love their shirts and I can wear them to work!
